Y3 Looking back and Forth 6/12/19

Friday 6th December 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

We have enjoyed welcoming December this week in Class Three and have had the chance to decorate our tree when we have made a real effort with our work! We have really got to grips with the new method we have learned to calculate more difficult multiplication questions and have even managed to solve problems too. We really enjoyed our English work this week and have learned more about clauses and how to join them using time conjunctions – we didn’t realise just how Charlie must have felt when he held the chocolate bar in his hand and wished to find the Golden Ticket but now we do. We love singing in Class Three and are getting better at our traditional Christmas carols every day.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I enjoyed everything this week, including…
  • Singing our class carols
  • Earning our chance to press our Santa decoration
  • Learning the Grid Method in Maths
  • Starting to find out about Lady Mary in History
  • Triple jump training in PE
  • Representing school in Boccia
  • Sentence work in English working with time conjunctions and clauses
  • Opening our envelopes in English – Well done and thank you Charlie!!
  • Being introduced to TT Rockstars
  • As always…Fish n chips lunch.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • How did it feel having only one chance to win the Golden Ticket?
  • What is the Grid Method and when do we need to use it?
  • Who is Lady Mary Wortley Montagu?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be working on our final preparations for our Christmas Celebration and will be trying on all of our costumes on Friday! We will be publishing our letters to Mr Wonka and completing our leaflets all about Lady Mary. We will also be trying to fit in as much TT Rockstars time as possible. Throughout the week, we will be doing our best in our end of term assessments too to see where we go from here – after the festive season and of course, loving our time in school with all of our friends.

Thank you very much to everyone who has already sent in their child’s costume for the Christmas Nativity and just a reminder that all of the children will need them in by Friday 13th in a named bag or on a hanger.
