Y5 29.11.19 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 29th November 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

This week the children have worked in pairs to imagine a diary entry for a child in ancient Greece. They’ve done a great job with this, applying lots of our topic vocabulary. In maths, they were undertaking problem solving with calculations that involved negative numbers. In Wider Opportunities, they have been preparing for their ‘progress performance’ which will be on Wednesday at 1.30pm - all welcome!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We are enjoying the ancient Greece topic and enjoyed working with a partner to produce a piece of writing.
  • We are looking forward to the Wider Opps ‘progress performance’ next week.
  • We enjoyed writing letters of complaint.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask your child about the salt investigation the children did with Mrs Saxton in science.
  • Ask your child to tell you about the features of a letter of complaint.
  • Ask the children to tell you what they learnt about amphitheatres.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be continuing our persuasive writing topic, exploring an issue that can impact on local communities, and how people might respond.

In maths, we will be adding and subtracting decimal numbers before moving on to draw and measure angles.

Don’t forget, we have a short Wider Opps ‘progress performance’ on Wednesday 4th December at 1.30pm.

Wider Opportunities:
