Year 2 17th January Looking Back and Forth

Friday 17th January 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

The children have been writing a recount of a real event, remembering to check and edit them. In maths, they used their knowledge of addition and subtraction methods to solve problems.

We have been busy reading texts and answering questions about it in our guided reading sessions. The children also love voting for the end of the day story each day – they get very excited to find out the winner.

We have begun learning about The Great Fire of London in our new history topic. It has been great to see lots of children finding out facts about it at home and bringing them in to share.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Voting for the end of the day story
  • Making a class book of reviews about their favourite books
  • Drama – The Fire of London
  • Gymnastics

Family discussion questions:

  • What is your favourite book?
  • What date did the Fire of London begin?

Looking forward:

  1. PE sessions Fridays (gymnastics)
  2. Maths – fractions
  3. History – The Great Fire of London
