Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 13th December 2019

Y6 - Friday  22nd November 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

This week has seen a mix of completing various topics and pieces of work, mixed in with some end of term assessments for our pupils.  They have coped exceptionally well with these and we are very pleased with their attitude and effort.  We’ve finished writing extended stories; practised our knowledge of algebra; worked on identifying characteristics of different countries; continued with our science focus on drugs; and we have practised our songs and contributions towards our Carol Concert in our last week.

There will be one more weekly update next Friday, but the whole of the Year 6 team would like to take a moment to say what a fabulous Autumn Term we have enjoyed with our class.  They have been really hard-working; fun; curious; tuneful; sporty; keen; neat; respectful; energetic; polite; - the list could go on.

Letters issued Y6:

No specific letters this week.

Revision Posters:

No revision posters this week – apologies.

Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Playtime

  • Maths – algebra with Mrs. Timmins
  • 7 Up with Mrs. Schurer-Lewis
  • Skellig with Miss Atkins

Family discussion questions:

  • How did your narrative story end?
  • What country did you research for Mrs. Cooper and what facts can you tell me?
  • What does the word “term” mean when studying algebra in maths?

Looking forward:

  1. This coming week – our last of 2019 – is going to be extremely busy.  Our class has earned a marble jar treat and – following a vote on Friday – have come up with the idea of a pyjama day with a teddy.  We will therefore allow pupils to bring a pair of pyjamas into school (with a small teddy if they wish) on Friday.  They must wear their regular school uniform for school, then change for Premier Sports, and then they may pop their PJs over their PE kits for the remainder of the day.  We shall also be exchanging gifts with our buddies on Friday.
  2. It’s the PTA’s wonderful Christmas Shop again on Monday.
  3. Our Carol Service takes place on Wednesday 18th at 6:00pm and Thursday 19th at 10:00am.  Please remember that these are ticketed performances and no admittance will be allowed without an allocated ticket.
  4. Thursday is also the school’s Christmas Lunch.
  5. Friday of course, we break for our Christmas holidays
