Looking Back and Forth 26.4.24

Y2 Friday 26th April 2024– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we have identified the features of our model text- persuasive letters in English and have explored unit and non-unit fractions in maths. In history, we have created a timeline of events in the life of Florence Nightingale and in science we have explained the life cycle of a plant.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I liked playtimes because I scored an epic goal!
  • I liked playtime because I played a ninja game.x2
  • I enjoyed science because I want to learn about nature.
  • I liked history because we were learning about Florence Nightingale.
  • I enjoyed science because we made the life cycle of a plant. X2
  • I enjoyed English because I love The King Who Banned the Dark.
  • I liked PE because it was good – we did tennis with a racket. X2
  • I have enjoyed maths this week because we were learning about unit and non-unit fractions x2

Family discussion questions:

We will be writing persuasive letters next week. Can you think of reasons why we should keep the dark? Why do we need it? Why is it useful?

Looking forward:

Next week we will be planning and writing our own persuasive letters and discovering the changes Florence Nightingale made to hospitals.

PE is on Tuesdays! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Well done to the 6 children that completed the challenge again this week. Please record when you read with your child in their reading diaries so we can track their progress and see who has completed the challenge this term!

Have a great week,

Mr Warhurst
