Reception 22.3.2019 Looking back and forth

Friday 22 March 2019 - Looking Back and Forth in Reception

Looking Back

Writing: This week we read the book “Glub!” The children then wrote what they thought Glub (the goldfish) felt like when he was stuck in the pipe under the sink.

Maths: Problem solving. Mrs Raven used lots of different objects for the children to solve some maths problems. For example: There are 3 trees and 4 apples on each tree. How many apples are there to pick?

RE: The Easter Story with Mrs Saxton and the children did some acting out of Palm Sunday on Thursday afternoon.

KUW: Pipes underground. We also watched a film about what happens to sewage. (Google Aunty Mabel - Sewage on YOUTUBE)

PE: Multi-sports with Premier Sport on Friday morning and Gymnastics with Mrs Saxton on Thursday afternoon.

Reception Children's highlights

Playing with my friends, lunchtime, having the bikes out on Fridays, reading books, writing about Glub, painting, buddy time and the new museum in class.

Family discussion questions

Do you know where your water valve is and could you turn it off if a water pipe burst in your home? House points to everyone who comes into school and tells the rest of the class. I know that our valve is under a kitchen unit. Rather awkward to get too!

Looking forward

Grandparents’ tea party baking. Looking at vegetables that grow underground – potatoes, carrots, beets…..

Dates of interest:

Friday 29th March is Grandparents' Tea Party – please let me know if you are able to contribute cakes/biscuits.

Homework

Reading: Reading challenge has been set. The children will get a house point for each day they read at home. Please record your children's reading in their reading record so they don't lose out on their points. We will hand them out on Tuesday afternoon during guided reading sessions.
