Reception looking back and forth Friday 7th January 21

Hello

What a super start to the term it has been! The children have come back keen and excited about the new topic. I did a pre planning session with them and they have come up with loads of ideas of things they want to know about their bodies.

We set up a doctor's surgery in the class in the role play area and this has been very popular. We will add and change things during the term.

In maths this week we focused on number work and number formation. I think we have all nearly cracked this! Next week we are going to work on number bonds.

In RE we learnt that Christians christened their babies in a church and that Sheikh babies have a naming ceremony in the temple.

On Wednesday afternoon the children did fruit printing with Mrs Raven and they tasted pomegranate.

This is what the children told me they enjoyed this week.

  • riding the bikes
  • playing everywhere!
  • going into the woods
  • doing phonics
  • singing songs
  • seeing the snow
  • learning about christenings
  • drawing on the creative table
  • playing in the doctor's surgery
  • playing on the big playground with the other classes

Next week are are learning about the sense of sight. The children will be writing a few lines about themselves and in maths we will do number bonds.
