Reception update 19 January 2024

Hello all

What an exciting week weather wise! We have had a fun time with the ice and snow. We made what we called icy art hangings which then lead to us filling the water tray the next day and coming into school to solid ice which took some time to break up. The children then created a polor ice scene with polor bears and other sea creaters. This then lead to them creating an aquarium which was an eloborate affair using blocks and all the sea creatures.

In maths we continued to do number work and writing our numbers 10 to 10 correctly and counting groups.

In phonics we have moved onto Phase 4 and learning cvcc words.

In writing they each wrote 3 sentences about themselves - hair and eye colour and something they enjoy doing at home.

On Wednesday in art with Mrs Raven they did line drawings of skeletons. Attention to details was amazing!

They continue to love the doctors surgery in class and it is very popular. I had a my sore shoulder repaired this week as well as recieving loads of injections!

The children said they are enjoying their reading wit Mrs Walker and Mrs Fairhurst.

The sense we have learnt this week is hearing and we did a hearing walk on Monday morning. The children then wrote a list of things they could hear inside and outside.
