Reception weekly update Friday 15th March

Hello all

The excitement is mounting for the tea party. Thank you for the offers of eats but I could do with a few more offers please. We started to learn the song we are going to sing so hopefully they will sing it at home for you.

At the begining of the week we finished off the letters home and the envelopes. On wednesday they heard the story of the Extraordinary Gardener which our writing focus is based on for the next week. The story is about a boy who plants things to brighten up his world. The children found sunflower seeds (hidden in tissue paper) around the class and we planted these.

On Thursday morning they each bought a stamp (in the Sunshine Room Post Office)and chose a treat. We then walked down to the post box. Honestly it is so sweet how excitied they were. The post box was emptied this morning at 9am so I would think the letters will be with you on Monday.

On Thursday we had a science themed afternoon. There were three activities - timing in Year 1, then looking at different liquids to disolve Skittles the quickest and lastly planting seeds in Reception area. A super afternoon with the Year R,1 and 2 children mixing up.

There has been fun and games with the calves in the field next to the class breaking into the horse paddocks and basically causing mayhem. This has resulted in lots of laughter and interest from the children.

Odd sock day is on Thursday

Have a good weekend.
