we 7th September Year 4

Hi All,

What a fantastic start to the year.  The children worked hard last week on their work on the book ‘The Sea-thing Child’ by Russ Hoban.  If you have a chance ask your child about the story.  It is a little bit like the beginning of term, when faced with something new and sometimes scary, but can be exciting at the same time.  The children developed their inner Vikings by creating a kenning poem.  You will have seen some examples of them in the homework that was sent home on Friday.

The children created kenning poems about the Sea-thing child and let their descriptive juices loose!

In Maths, it was very much a fact finding mission with a skills and MA test.  Lessons will begin properly for maths on Monday.  This week we will be

Finding pairs with a total of 100; adding to the next multiple of 100 and subtracting to the previous multiple of 100 and  subtract by counting up to find a difference.

We also created close observational drawings of shells and hoping to finish this work so we can display the Sea-thing child kennings and shell pictures in the classroom.

Hopefully you have received the letters about swimming – they need to be back before Tuesday.  I am sorry about the lateness.

Remember if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Mrs. Cowell
