Week ending 13th January Year 3

Thank you for a great first week back Year 3!

This week, we have been getting to know a little more about the topics for this term. We have explored place value in maths, written our own ending to a Roman Myth, discovered the story of Romulus and Remus: the founding of Rome, and we have started on our quest to become experts in health and nutrition in Science.

Next week will be a little different in both the morning and afternoon on some days, so please listen to what the adults in class have to say at the start of each day so that you know fully what is happening.

In our subjects this week:

Maths - We will be looking at how to use our knowledge of place value to further our understanding of addition by partitioning and column addition.

English - We are looking at how verbs can be used alongside adverbs to add more detail in a story, continuing to explore Roman Myths. We will also be continuing to read our Roald Dahl books in group Book Club, and we are reading The Roman Mysteries as a class together on Friday! Lots of English this week!

Science - We will be exploring what the food groups are and why we need them to have a healthy diet.

Topic - We will be exploring what the Romans ate and how that might compare to what we already know about Italian food.

Please remember to bring your homework back on Wednesday (Grammar and Reading) and Thursday (Maths), as well as keeping learning your spellings for the test on Friday.

If you would like to get in touch, please either send me an email or come and see me on the playground after school.

Let's have another wornderful and creative week, Year 3!
