Week Ending 17th March - Year 3

Thank you for another wonderful week, Year 3.

We have done lots of exciting things this week: from learning about how the Celts lived through to thinking about what a volcano looks like on the inside. We have been furthering our understanding of multiplication and introducing the idea of parallel and perpendicular lines. In our Literacy, we have continued to explore the world of Harry Potter, too.

The week ahead will look slightly different to usual. Mrs Benson will be in class on Monday morning, rather than Thursday. Please do note that the maths homework is still due on Thursday. Miss Aspey will be in class on Thursday morning to teach English and Maths.

Our subjects this week will look like this:

English - We will be thinking more about how to write a non-chronological report as we look towards our Hot Write in the unit. We will also be continuing to explore all of our class books, and thinking about how we can up level our writing.

Maths - We will be furthering our knowledge of time by looking into the digital clock, with a focus on the 24 hour clock. Towards the end of the week, our focus will be more problem solving with time - calculating the time difference between two given times.

Science - More investigations are on their way in Science this week, as we continue to explore the properties of rocks and get closer to naming our 5 mystery rocks.

History Topic - This week, we will be building on our knowledge of the Celts to think about how they would have felt and reacted when they heard that the Romans were invading.

Geography Topic - Another investigation! This time, we will be looking at how volcanoes erupt and we will even be thinking about how to make a class volcano!

R.E - We are bringing our topic about Muhammad (pbuh) to a close, thinking about the key teachings which he taught the early Muslims and exploring more about the rest of his life.

P.E - We are going to be performing our gymnastics routines this week, which will be very exciting! We have worked so hard on our balances and jumps. It will be a great afternoon! In Premier Sports we will be continuing to explore the game of dodgeball.

Let's look forward to another great week!

Miss Aspey
