Week Ending 9th June - Year 3

Thank you all for a wonderful week back. It has been fantastic to explore lots of different things this week!

In our English, we have started looking at our traditional tales, exploring the story of Hansel and Gretel. Over the next couple of weeks we will be working towards writing our own traditional tales based on this one, but with a bit of a twist.

In maths, we have been revisiting methods for addition and subtraction. We have get very good at remembering the process for column addition and counting up for subtraction. Nest, we will be looking at solving a variety of problems using these skills before revisiting multiplication and division one last time.

We started to look at the local area with Mrs Tedd and will be continuing this next week. She has some fantastic maps for us to look at for the different types of areas around the UK.

We haven't started our science as of yet as we spent Thursday looking at the environment as part of Environment Day. We were visited by some lovely owls and in Year 3 we explored pond life. Thank you to Mrs Walker who led our afternoon of mask making and pond life exploration. Next week, we will be starting to look at plants and what they need to grow.

On Friday we will be having Sports Day! This will be a fantastic opportunity for all Year 3 members to get stuck in and have a go.

We also have Goostrey's Got Talent this week on Wednesday! All children have been given 2 tickets for the Wednesday evening, but if you are unable to come please send these back into school as someone else may be ble to use them.

Thank you for a fab start of this last half term. Let's enjoy next week and keep working hard!
