Looking back: 

We have had a lovely first week back. This week we have read, performed and written winter poetry. In Maths we have explored partitioning with different practical equipment.

We have explored likes and dislikes of different polar animal art. We have begun to think about our Science topic ‘Polar Places’ and written questions in class about what we would like to know, in History, about Captain Scott.

Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:

√ Representing 2 digit numbers in different ways.

√ Writing our winter poems.

√ Looking at artists polar animals pictures.

√ Partitioning 2 digit numbers using the part whole model and practical equipment

√ Reading information books about penguins.

√ Sentence substitution in Phonics.

√ Reading and performing winter poems.

√ Dancing in PE.

√ Writing questions as a class to help us to find out information about Captain Scott.

 

Family discussion questions:

  • True or false? In 24 there are 4 tens and 2 ones.
  • What facts can you remember about Emperor Penguins?
  • What can you remember about the space race and the moon landing?

Looking forward:

Next week we will be writing a non-chronological report about Emperor Penguins. In Maths, we will continue to explore place value.

In Science we will be looking at animals and their habitats.
