Y1 Friday 20th December 2019– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

We have looked at the parts of a plant and looked at vegetables with these parts and looked at Christmas lights through materials to decide if translucent, transparent or opaque are best to see light through.

In Maths, we have looked at 2D and 3D shapes.

We will continue to use our Art and DT skills to make Christmas cards and moving pictures.

Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:

√ Making our moving pictures.

√ Exploring the different parts of vegetables.

√ Identifying 2D and 3D shapes and using them to make repeated patterns.

√ Doing a quick fire History and Geography quiz to show what we have learnt this term.

√ Consolidating our learning in Science this half term.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can you name 2D and 3D shapes?
  • Which objects are transparent?
  • What does opaque mean?

Looking forward:

Next term we will be looking at Polar Places.

In Maths, we will be looking further into Place Value and Addition and Subtraction.

In English, we will be writing information texts and non-chronological reports.

Homework in Year 1

Homework – there will be no spellings or handwriting homework given until Friday 10th January. I have sent the children home with some ‘fun’ homework should they choose to do it. J
