Y6 – Friday 2nd February 2024 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
It’s Friday again! Where did the week go? In Year 6, we have finished reading Neil Gaiman’s version of “Hansel and Gretel” whilst also watching a superb video clip of the story, read by the ever-brilliant Rik Mayall. We have been researching the authors of the story, using a variety of websites in order to compose a non-fiction information text in the coming weeks. Maths has seen us get to grips with the topic of “algebra” and we can now form, and solve, expressions. During our afternoon sessions, we have been planning a visit to Florida – perhaps a suggestion for family holidays 2024? In science, we’ve continued our learning about electricity whilst we’ve also enjoyed tasting more American-based food including Key Lime Pie and Pecan Pie. Yummy! Our netball skills continue to improve and we have been looking at other countries in our French studies. What a fabulous time in Year 6!

Looking forward:
- We are writing a non-fiction text about The Brothers Grimm and maybe reading another version of “Hansel and Gretel”. Our maths will continue to strengthen our algebra knowledge and understanding, whilst our foundation subjects will continue too. Some pupils will be looking forward to taking part in the Young Voices concert on Monday. Have a lovely time if you are going along to sing your hearts out!
