Looking back and Forth 24th November 2023

Y2 Friday 24th November 2023– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we have planned our own circular narratives and started learning our parts for the nativity. In science, we have discussed the properties of different materials and why materials are used for certain objects.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I liked reading the nativity script.
  • I liked learning my part for the nativity
  • I liked learning about Celtic Roundhouses
  • I have enjoyed learning different ways to add numbers
  • I liked doing different jumps in PE
  • I liked singing because I want to be a singer
  • I liked learning about houses in the past
  • I liked RE because we found out what gold, frankincense and myrrh are
  • I liked learning about the human geographical features of England

Family discussion questions:

  • Please help your child learn their lines for the nativity when they are sent home next week.

Looking forward:

  • Next week will continue to get ready for our nativity. We will send home children’s nativity lines for them to learn, We will also be writing our own versions of circular narratives.

Reminders

PE is now on TUESDAYS! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Another 5 children  completed the challenge again this week!

Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Warhurst
