Reception class weekly update week ending 18th November 2022

Hello all

Gosh its crazy how these weeks are flying by!

Another busy and fruitful week in Reception class. Our story of the week was Star in a Jar and hopefully you saw the little jar in their school bags on Monday. We were hoping this would prompt them to tell you the story. They wrote a short sentence in their books describing the boy in their own words but we did use the tricky word: he, as we had learnt it in class in Monday's phonic session.

In Maths we continue to work on number bonds to 10 and they love those buddy blocks!

I continue to update word pots and sounds during the week and hope you are finding they are making good progress!

In RE on Thursday I told them the story of David and Goliath and we talked about good over evil. This was similar to the story of Rama and Sita so they understood it well.

On Tuesday afternoon they had gymnastics over the road in the Junior hall working on the big apparatus. This was very exciting!

They painted and decorated their diva lamps which are not on display in the classroom. They also did leaf printing on Wednesday afternoon.

We continue to learn the nativity songs and it is sounding very good. Details regarding nativity play outfits will come to you next week. Don't worry it is nothing onerous.

We got the bikes out today despite the rain! Buddy time was popular as ever and some went over to the Year 6 class for the first time for their time together.

Next week we are learning about Thanksgiving.

Have a good weekend.
