Week Ending 27th January Year 3

Thank you for another wonderful week, Year 3!

This week, we have learned lots about how to improve our Literacy work, including punctuating speech and using conjunctions. We will be continuing our learning about Roman Myths next week, looking at a new myth and expanding our knowledge of writing.

In maths, we have been exploring fractions in quite a lot of detail! Everyone has done so well with this learning adn we can't wait to move on to looking at some weight and capacity next week. We have also continued to explore angles and 2D shapes, looking towards developing this into understanding perimeter and turns.

In science, we made some fantastic balanced meals out of sponge, paint and pasta which are now making our science wall look rather delicious! We discussed the importance of eating well but that not every meal needed to be entirely balanced as long as we are getting our nutrition from other meals too. Nest week, we will be looking at the skeleton and the role it plays in the lives of lots if different animals.

In our topic, we have been designing our pizza boxes, ready for next week when we will have a beautiful pizza to take home with us. This was part of our thinking on how food has changed over time - especially after learning about some of the food the Romans used to eat! Please remember to bring in your pizza design along with your ingredients and an apron if possible. I will only be providing the pizza base and the tomato puree, so please do not forget. It should be a really fun session, where will learn lots about the preparation of ingredients and how to prepare ourselves as chefs.

All children have received the same spellings this week. They are available to download from the "Spellings" tab at the top of the page if you need a new sheet. Please make an effort to learn these, as they will be exceptionally useful for many years to come.

In reading, we will be continuing to look at Roald Dahl, as well as the Theives of Ostia. I can't wait to find out who the mysterious man at the green wooden door is! Maybe we will find out on Monday...

Enjoy your weekend and see you next week!
