Y5 15th March Looking Back and Forth

Friday 15th March 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

Year 5 have had a great week this week. They produced a fantastic final piece of writing based on ‘The Watertower’ which they have ‘published’ in neat. In Wider Opportunities they are starting to prepare for an important concert in June. They will be travelling to the Bridgewater Hall and playing a number of pieces of music with the Halle Orchestra.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed reading the end of ‘The Watertower’ and writing our own version.
  • We have liked doing translation and reflection in maths.
  • We’ve enjoyed watching people’s book presentations.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What they learned about translation and reflection in maths.
  • What they learned about flooding in our ‘Rivers’ topic.
  • What you should do about limiting the spam you receive.

Looking forward:

This week, the children will be starting a new writing topic where they will be practising persuasive writing techniques. In maths we will be focusing on rounding whole numbers and decimals.

Please could the children ensure they have PE kits in school. PE this half-term is on Tuesday afternoons, but it is always useful to have PE kits available in school at all times.

Homework in Year 5:

Maths: Given Monday/Return following Monday.

English: Given Monday/Return following Monday.

Spellings: Given Friday/Tested following Friday.

Wider Opportunities:
