Y5 5.7.19 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 5th July 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

The children enjoyed the day of first aid training on Monday, and Sports Day on Thursday. These are some of their comments:

Sports Day:

It was really fun!

The activities were great.

We liked the races at the end.

We really enjoyed watching the infant races.

We liked the fact that everyone cheered for each other.

First Aid:

It was very interesting and useful.

It was good to practise CPR on the dummies.

It was useful to practise putting on bandages.

We feel more confident that we would know what to do if something happened.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed writing our own story based in the Caribbean.
  • We enjoyed studying the life-cycle of a bird and looking at the inside of an egg.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • To tell you about the different parts of an egg.
  • To tell you what they learned about first-aid.

Looking forward:

This week the children will be learning about South America and some endangered species that live there. They will write a poem about animals that are threatened with extinction. In maths, we will be continuing with calculating area and perimeter. We also have the Fire Service in class on Friday afternoon to give a safety talk.

Spellings: Given Friday/Tested following Friday.
