Y5 Weekly Update 13.10.23

Friday 13th October 2023 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

The children have been brilliant this week. On Monday, we were painting river estuaries in the style of Monet. The children were so sensible with the acrylic paints and produced some great art work.

We have also completed some wonderful booklets about estuaries, and the children designed a front cover for these using Publisher on the laptops. Mrs Riddell has also had the children sewing some lovely flower patterns!

Inbetween all this, we have done some science work about the seasons, geography work about rivers near our twin school in South Africa… and the usual maths work!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We have really enjoyed sewing with Mrs Riddell.
  • We loved doing the Monet inspired artwork.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children tell you what type of artist Monet was?
  • Can the children tell you the name of the two rivers near our twin school, ElizabethFontein?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will putting the last touches to our exhibition work. The exhibition goes up on Tuesday evening, ready for viewing Wednesday and Thursday. Don’t forget the Year 5 and 6 performance on Thursday at 5pm.

During the exhibition the children will also be visited by the ‘Bug Man’, who will show them some weird and wonderful wildlife, and take part in some First Aid training on Thursday.

The rest of the week will be spent completing our science and geography topics.

Enjoy the weekend!
