Y5 Weekly Update 17.5.24

Friday 17th May 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

The Year 5s have worked really hard this week! In English, the children completed their survival stories and have done a brilliant job with these – showing some great progress in their written work. We started looking at angles in maths and the children have been using a protractor. Yesterday, the children did some more spreadsheets work with Mrs Cooper. Mrs Cooper has been doing some brilliant ICT work with the children this year! In History, we learned about what listed buildings are and learned about listed buildings in Goostrey.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed playing rounders in PE.
  • We found it interesting learning about the history of the school.
  • We enjoyed learning about Islamic artwork.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children tell you some interesting history about our school?
  • If you have a protractor at home, can you draw the children an angle and let them measure it?

Looking forward:

Next week, the children will be exploring the features of an information text, ready to write their own survival guide.

In science, we will continue our work on life cycles, looking at the life cycles of mammals and amphibians/insects.

In maths, we will continue to look at angles by drawing angles, and problem solving with missing angles.

On Friday, we will do some PSHE work based on the lovely book, ‘And Tango Makes Three’.

Have a great weekend!
