Y5 Weekly Update 20.10.23

Friday 20th October 2023 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

What a lovely week it’s been! The exhibition went up on Tuesday evening, and the children had an excited look around on Wednesday morning. On Wednesday afternoon we had a session with the ‘Bug Man’, who showed the children lots of wonderful creatures. On Thursday, the children had a session of First Aid, and many of them returned on Thursday evening for the singing.

It’s been a fantastic half-term with the children, they have settled so well and I’ve been really impressed with them. They worked so hard on their exhibition work and you could hear a pin drop at times as they focused so well on their work.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved looking at our work displayed in the exhibition.
  • We loved the Bug Man and the First Aid sessions.
  • We’ve really enjoyed putting together our exhibition work

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they have learned about rivers over the half-term.
  • What did the children like about the exhibition?

Looking forward:

Next week, we turn our attention to some new topics. In History, we will be studying the ancient Greeks. In Science, ‘Forces’ will be our next unit of work. In English, we will be basing our work on a wonderful picture book which I know the children will really enjoy.

I have updated all units of work we will be studying next half term on the class page. Just a reminder, PE day moves to Fridays next half-term.

Have a great half-term!
