Year 2 13th September Looking Back and Forth

Friday 13th September 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

We have been very busy this week learning and writing the story of “The dog who could dig” and using tens and ones in maths. The children have impressed me with their knowledge retained from Year 1. The PE coaches have been impressed with their skills and their behaviour – fantastic work! We have also begun news topics in history, geography and science this week. It has been a great first full week of school. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Writing the story of Digger the dog. It was fun learning the story using actions to help us.
  • I liked finding numbers using tens and ones to decide.
  • Using adjectives to say what Digger is like.
  • Being with all my friends and Mrs Freeman.

Family discussion questions:

  • What is a noun phrase?

Looking forward:

  1. Retelling a new story
  2. Ordering numbers, odd and even, greater and less than
  3. Exhibition work
  4. Healthy Me
  5. The United Kingdom
  6. Trip to Manchester Museum of Science and Industry on 4th October. Please return the slip sent home this week.

Homework in Year 2

Please listen to your child read for 15 minutes each day and talk about what they have read. Can they tell you what happened? Do they understand the meaning of new words? What was their favourite part?

English, maths and spelling homework will all start next week.
