Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 10th October 2025

Friday 10th October 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Thank you Year 6 for a great cake sale!

We have had an incredible week this week, being creative, productive and quite the engineers. Designing and creating our own swallows and attaching wings, tails and beaks has been quite a challenge. Once again, we had a great tag rugby session in PE and Mrs Murdoch was very proud of us. We are now more than half way through our mystery stories in English, have begun to find out more about why Africa isn’t a country and just how diverse it is as a continent in Geography and have worked hard in science with Mrs Riddell to understand more about healthy eating, linking it to our French work. We have continued to add and subtract in maths, remembering which digit changes and have researched the lives of swallows and become quite the poet. We have also designed our own characters based on the book entitled Tales from Africa, ready for our T-shirt art next week. In between all this hard work, reading and quizzes, we have come up with ideas to help create our song to present at the exhibition and we are looking forward to rehearsing it next week.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Building our swallows
  • Being read to by the lady from the library service – thanks for the book too!
  • Working hard on our Egyptian Mystery stories
  • Rapping together in assembly
  • Our artistic animals
  • Researching on laptops
  • Playing with my friends
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What was the most interesting facts have you discovered about swallows?
  • Can you remember what the story was about shared with us by the lady from the library service?
  • Challenge Question: What was our new book called in Geography?

Looking forward:

This week, we will be enjoying preparing for the exhibition as it will be all hands to the pump!

We will be completing our poems, publishing, completing our models, learning our song, researching more facts on the laptops and publishing our work, completing our watercolours and much, much more. Should be an exciting week!!

Thank you again for a wonderful week and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR BOOK SPINES – THE EXHIBITION SUMMER HOMEWORK. THANK YOU!
