Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 11/7/25

Friday 11th July 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

THANK YOU TO THE AWESOME YEAR 3 CHILDREN FOR A FABULOUS JULY EVENING OF SUMMER FUN AND GAMES!!! A great effort by everyone and I would like them all to know how grateful I am to them for brilliant ideas for stalls and to you for helping to support their event. Also this week, we have completed our Geography and History work for this year, completed some quizzes to show what we know now after all our hard work, worked hard to beat the clock in our final time table challenge of the year with some excellent results and in D & T, we prepared for our pizza making afternoon coming up. In reading, we read a very poignant story all about what happened in Pompeii in 79 AD and the children became journalists by reporting on events that day. We have also done some investigation into how to collect data and present it in pictograms in maths and above all, have tried to stay hydrated and cool!Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • JULY EVENING OF COURSE!!!!!
  • Creating our very own pizza recipes
  • Learning all about Vesuvius and its fateful eruption
  • Laughing with our friends
  • Proving just how much we have learnt in History and Geography
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What happen in Pompeii in 79AD?
  • What is important when making food products?
  • What does journalist mean?

Looking forward:

Well…our final five days in Year 3 hold such promise as we embark on yet more DT projects. We will be designing, making and decorating our very own wooden photo frames – using saws and everything and will be making our pizza delights of course. We will also be completing our still life sketches based on Roman pottery and designing and creating our own clay pot in the style of the Romans. We are very much looking forward to the privilege of watching the Year 6 production on Wednesday morning too and stepping into the shoes of a Year 4 child for a morning. Finally, we will enjoy our Year 3 picnic – weather permitting on Thursday 17th July!

Thanks everyone,

Mrs Sant
