Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 16/5/25
Friday 16th May 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
This week has been another great week with the children almost completing their fable writing in English today, and working so hard to do so. Maths has been concentrating on adding and subtracting fractions which we’re now great at - well done Class 3 – and also fining fractions of amounts which we’re still trying to get to grips with. In History, we found out why the Romans were so keen to conquer Britain and in Geography, we found out about the layers of the earth and where volcanoes occur. In RE this week, we looked into Bible stories which mention the idea of forgiveness and in PE, we ran our hearts out preparing for sports day. Yet again, we kept fit this afternoon in maypole practise – another challenge! Finally, in Science, the children discovered the findings from their plants experiment. All of this has happened in Year 3 whilst we have done all we could to support the Year 6s who have put in maximum effort for their SATs throughout this week – well done to them – we admire them greatly as we do the staff who have worked alongside them.
- Reading many stories
- Maypoling in the sunshine
- Athletics
- Smashing our times table tests
- Celebrating individual achievements in class and cheering for each other
- Playing on the field again.
- Everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- Do chickens add chickens make turkeys?
- What are tectonic plates?
- Why did the Romans wish to invade Britain? What did we have that they wanted?
Looking forward:
Next week, we have another very exciting week planned where we will continue maypoling, hopefully getting less tangled, we will be completing paragraph five of or fable narrative, moving on to exploring money in maths, finding out about the Roman army in History, looking at why people choose to live nearby volcanoes in Geography and in art, we will be learning how to compose an artistic representation of our fable story – what a week it will be!
Thanks everyone,
Mrs Sant
