Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 26/9/25
Friday 26th September 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
Well thankfully, this week has been blessed with plenty of sunshine and glorious blue skies and we’ve finished with high spirits. We’ve had another good week this week, and our attitude to listening and learning has improved with every day which is marvellous. We have been busy with reading quizzes, learning about significant events in African history and in geography, discovering and sorting human and physical features of the continent of Africa. We worked on more rugby skills in PE which we did brilliantly, finished our Place Value work in Maths, wrote our Egyptian Mystery in English, paragraph one’s plan is stunning and so I’m looking forward to completing the story next week and we’ve ended the week with a real watercolour technique challenge. Well done to those who handed their homework in on time too – good job!
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Learning so many new words in English and History!
- Continuing with our artwork and learning how to use watercolours
- Reading quizzes
- Tag rugby!!
- Rapping in assembly
- Science with Mrs Riddell
- Grasping hundreds, tens and ones – hurray!!
- Playing with friends
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- When comparing numbers, which digit do we look at first?
- When painting with water colours, what do we start with – light or dark?
- Challenge Question: How can we tell the reader it’s dark without actually saying it’s dark? What is this technique called?
Looking forward:
Next week will be the start of many pieces of work to begin our Exhibition extravaganza! Without giving too much away, we will be constructing, painting, drawing, writing, singing and much, much more!
We will also be enjoying a forest schools session on Monday afternoon and so please see the letter from Spider for that.
Please remember to keep sending in those milk cartons – we need lots, lots more!!!
Also, have a good go at the photo challenge we talked about please.
Just a quick reminder to all children to remember to bring a waterproof coat into school each day please.
Homework is due in on Thursday 2nd October 2025.
Thank you again for a wonderful week and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Sant
