Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 4/7/25
Friday 4th July 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
What a hard-working week it’s been throughout this week, off the back of a wonderful day at Rose Day last Saturday!! We are part way through our writing inspired by the amazing book – Into the Forest and the children have given their all to present their very best English skills. We have completed our work on shape in maths and have begun to consider statistics. We have enjoyed our D & T project this afternoon, working on packaging, manufacturing products and creating our own pizzas, ready to prepare and cook on Monday 14th July, we worked hard to retrieve all our learning about volcanoes and earthquakes in geography, enjoyed athletics in PE again, worked on Jewish celebrations and festivals in RE and of course, LOVED our very special Roman Day in Chester. We explored ancient artefacts, learned about what Chester was like in Roman times, looked at evidence uncovered by archaeologists, marched like Romans, formed shield battle formations in the Amphitheatre and learned about gladiator entertainment. We saw real Roman stones and carvings found in real homes and important buildings over 2000 year ago and enjoyed seeing Roman armour and swords. We would like to say thank you to the staff at the Grosvenor Museum for presenting us with a great day.
- Our Roman Day trip!
- Planning for our pizzas
- Playing on the field
- Publishing our final English piece
- Learning about an Insulae, Domus and Villa in History
- Everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- Where did gladiators fight?
- What do we call an angle less than a right angle?
- What does packaging need to be?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will bring all of our learning together in our final assessments for Year 3 – what a great opportunity to shine once again. We will also be completing our group art, designing our pizzas and their packaging in D&T, completing our History and Geography work with quizzes and giving our all to our final times tables test of Year 3 – a big moment!! This will be the result they take with them to Year 4. We will of course be finishing our week off next week with our very exciting July Evening of enterprise and fun!!!
Thanks for a great week everyone!
