Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 5/12/25
Friday 5th December 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
Our final piece of writing for our Jemmy Button book has come on a treat this week and we are ready to complete it next week and publish our work. In maths, we have begun our work on multiplication and division whilst working hard on times tables practise in our homework of course. We challenged ourselves in our computing lesson too this week, working on making our microbits jump Donkey Kong style using some quite complicated coding so well-done Class 3 for that. We enjoyed some netball games in PE this week, putting our theory into practise and finished our excellent work in History, finding out why Egypt was so important to the development of Africa.
This week, our school has been alive with the sound of music and we’re enjoying preparing for our Christmas Celebration very much.
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Our Christmas decorations in the classroom
- Our advent calendar spinner game
- Singing in Music preparing for Christmas
- Jumping on the microbits
- Writing our brilliant Jemmy Button stories
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- What was the main reason for the success of the Egyptians?
- Which experiences did you choose for Jemmy Button to enjoy I your story?
- Challenge Question: Show me a method for dividing
Looking forward:
Next week will be ramping up our Christmas Celebration rehearsals of course so lots to look forward to there. Our thoughts will also be on the Christmas Shop – so much to choose from!!! We will be finishing off our wonderful piece of English writing too next week, alongside completing our new life work in RE and looking at Advent, moving forward with multiplication and division in maths, completing all our History work on Africa, revising all of spelling sounds and words, times table challenges and our final Microbits workshop in computing.
ON MONDAY, PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING IN YOUR CHRISTMAS SHOP MONEY IN A NAMED ENVELOPE, WALLET OR PURSE AND A BAG IF YOU WISH TO PURCHASE SOME WONDERFUL GIFTS.
