Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 9/5/25

Friday 9th May 2025 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

We have had a lovely week together this week, in no small part down to the lovely weather, where we have enjoyed figuring out fractions on a number line and counting in fractions in maths and singing rhymes to help us recall facts. English has been a busy author time, writing our fable narrative, in History, we have discovered more about Celtic life before the Romans invaded and why they wanted to expand their empire to cover Britain, in PE, we enjoyed our first athletics session, in Science, we began our plant experiment and in RE we completed our discussion about forgiveness and learned the lesson from The Unforgiving Servant. We ended our week with another maypole session - another great week!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Athletics practise with Mrs Murdoch
  • Maypole dancing with the ribbons! Hurray! – we really tried not to get too tangled
  • English writing about Dog, Magpie and Fox
  • Fish and chip Friday!
  • Times tables challenges
  • Playing on the field again in the sunshine.
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What does abruptly mean?
  • Who was the Unforgiving Servant?
  • What was the Iron Age and why was it called that?

Looking forward:

Next week, will be a full week packed with things like Maypole, completing our English writing, finding fractions of amounts, finding out how volcanoes occur and answering the question - what did the Roman army do?  We will deciding what we would have done if we had been part of The Lost Son story, practising more athletics in PE and finding out what has happened to our plants in Science. Finally, we will be supporting the Year 6’s in their important test week – good luck to all!

Remember it's World Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation awareness day on May 16th. We would love it if we could all show our support by wearing green for that day

Thanks everyone,

Mrs Sant
