Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 26th January 2018

Our first section today has been written by Tom B & Phoebe.

This week, Year 6 have enjoyed the following:

Eight Year 6 pupils attended the indoor athletics competition at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School.  They impeccable behaviour-wise and di not give up, even when they seemed to be losing. They got off to a great start by winning their first boys' event. They did really well throughout the entire competition, showing real determination and power. After a series of many events, they cam a respectable 5th out of 7 schools.

Four other Year 6 pupils also attended the Young Voices event at the Manchester Arena. They sang along beautifully to the songs that included "I'm Yours" a 1990s throwback pop medley and many others. They represented the school amazingly well and behaved impeccably.

In Year 3, we have been studying the art of graffiti and where it originated from. Did you know that the word "graffiti" means "to scribble" in Italian?  We have enjoyed looking at a range of wonderful images and we are working on our own tags.

Thank you to Tom and Phoebe for their contribution - they would have written more, but ran out of time.

In addition to all of this, they have been making music with Mrs. Benson and listening to further extracts from composers and with Mrs. Cowell, the pupils have enjoyed working on their PE skills, as well as considering the affects of drugs within the body.

Monday was a particularly exciting afternoon as we were visited by Mr. Bayley from Cheshire East Council (who just happens to be one of our parents, too).  The pupils considered the building of a new development within Cheshire and had to discuss a wide range of elements to contribute towards this.  Plans are now afoot and will be considered by the actual planners at the council when completed.  Move over, Bovis Homes - Year 6 are coming your way!!

Another super week - is it nearly February already!
