Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 5th October 2018

Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 5th October 2018

Year 6 have really settled into life in class now and what an exciting week we have enjoyed.  It was a super start with a very thought-provoking and informative visit to The National Memorial Arboretum.  The pupils were very interested in many of the exhibits and were extremely respectful at all times.  Thank you to the parent volunteers who were able to join us - many of us (pupils and staff) have said that this is definitely a place to re-visit.  We would certainly recommend a day here.

When asked about their weekly review, the pupils recalled learning about what The Pals Battalions were and how London Stockbrokers were one of the first groups to sign up; they have practised their long division skills; they researched and discussed the Third Pillar of Islam; and have found out about the different parts of the human eye.  They particularly enjoyed "Torture Maths" with Miss Atkins; the visit The National Memorial Arboretum; and making dens in the alleyway.

However, their most absolute tip-top exciting moment of the week was meeting and greeting their new Reception buddies on Friday afternoon.  They enjoyed sharing their home-made buddy books and then spent some time getting to know their new little friends.  The most common comment when we got back into class was "Ahh! They're so cute!".  Lots of developing friendships to be formed over the coming months, no doubt.

Next week, we shall be continuing with our work towards the Exhibition, as well as further topics in science, maths and PE.

Kind regards

Mrs. Timmins and Mrs. Cooper
