Friday 11th January 2019– Looking Back & Forth in Year 1

Friday 11th January  2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 1

Looking back:

This week, our class has been enjoying writing a recount of their Christmas break using all of the writing skills they learnt last term.  We've looked at place value in Maths and we shall be consolidating this next week, before turning our attention to adding and subtracting bigger two digit numbers.

We have started to look at the seasons in Geography and Science and we will continue this throughout the term.

Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Representing two digit numbers in different ways.
  • Writing our Christmas break recounts.
  • Exploring toys from the past and now.

Family discussion questions:

  • Why were toys from the past made from wood?
  • Can you give me three adjectives to describe winter?
  • How many tens and ones are in 25?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be learning more about the seasons in our topic lessons and to give us information to help us to write our explanation texts. We will be exploring place value further through problem solving and reasoning.
