Looking Back and Forth in Year 3

Friday 4th October 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

We have very much enjoyed our time together this week and the time we got to spend working with a professional artist. Learning how to sketch was really interesting and the children were surprised at how good they were – learning to be an illustrator! We have begun our work looking at poetry and have investigated adjectives to use in our work and in Maths, we have been learning about a special method to help us to add and subtract. We enjoyed exploring the UK again with Mrs Saxton and we even used Play Dough.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I have loved everything this week!
  • Being with Mrs Sant and my best friend.
  • I’ve really enjoyed the Art work all about illustrations.
  • Reading the poems and our assembly with Miss Atkins.
  • Making the front covers for our diaries.
  • Spending time with my friends and chatting.
  • Publishing in English was really great!
  • Making Dragon Flies for our Metal Art display.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What is the best way to sketch?
  • What is a noun and an adjective?
  • What is another word for answer in Maths?
  • What was the ‘special thing?’

Looking forward:

Next week, we have another exciting week as we welcome a new professional artist into school to work with us - all about Robots! We will also be having our second Computing lesson with Mrs Sant and Mrs Cooper and of course, continuing with our Music and Art work. Developing our addition and subtraction skills will be our main focus too.
