Looking Back & Forth 1.5.26
We have had another lovely sunny week in Year One!
Looking back:
- We designed our own 'Wild Things' and wrote character descriptions about them in English.
- We finished our mass and volume unit in maths.
- We learnt two new sounds: ie (ee) and ea (e)
Highlights:
- We enjoyed using soft pastels, oil pastels and charcoal to draw curved lines in art.
- We ordered the events of the first moon landing in history.
- We learnt about safaris in science and discussed what we will need to take on our own mini safari.
- We have loved playing on the field in the sunshine!
Looking forward:
- We will start our new maths unit: Multiplication and division. We will learn to count in 2s, 5s, and 10s.
- We will analyse our model text in English to give us ideas for our own reports.
- We will focus on curved lines again to create a realistic moon drawing.
- We will go on a safari in our school field to look for invertebrates.
Questions to ask at home:
- Can you read these words? shield, field, bread, head.
- What is an invertebrate?
- What is the difference between volume and capacity?
- What did Neil Armstrong do on the moon?
