Reception class update 17th May

Well this week was all about getting ready for Grandparents' tea party. We had many singing practices on the stage ready to wow the audience. At one point during the week I didn't think they would pull it off as 4 songs was a big ask but they wanted to do all 4.

Inbetween singing we managed to get some 3D maths done. The children should know the names of basic 3D shapes such as cube, cuboid, cone, sphere and pyramid. No an easy task as many will say square of a cube and circle for a sphere.

In writing this week we did a simple 3 word sentence to describe how Lucky the fish felt getting stuck in the pipes under the sink. Thank you for all the pictures, notes and emails about children finding the stop cock.

This coming week is sports day. The children should wear a t-shirt of the colour of their house. If you are not sure of their house colour just ask them what house points they get (green, yellow, red or blue). They can come to school in their colour t-shirt with the PE kit on.

The sports afternoon runs from 1:15ish to end of day. The children will do the first 5 activities with their buddies. There will be a carousel of different skills based activites and they rotate after 3 minutes. Then they will move over to the running tracks and sit with their class. The PTA will be selling some refreshments so please bring cash.

So to the grand finale of Grandparents' tea party. It was a lovely hour and the children did a super job of singing. I was so very proud of them all. I am sure you have seen a few photos and videos so you get the idea. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE FLOWERS AND CAKES.

I am planning to do a mum's picnic next half term. Details to follow as soon as I have set a date.

Enjoy the weekend.
