Reception class update Friday 20th March

This week we finished our writing about what our extraordinary seed might grow into. We are working on short sentences with finger spaces and full stops. Some children are using capital letters at the begining of sentences. I have finished teaching all of the phase 3 sounds now and the next step is phase 4 which is focusing on blending - tr/bl/sl/fr/...We will also be spending time revising the phase 3 sounds so they are confident to use them in reading and writing which will give them a boost when entering Year 1.

In maths we are learning number bonds to 5 (1+4/2+3/0+5). We would like them to know these automatically and once we ahve matered this we will move onto bonds to 10. Any help at home would be apprieciated. 

In My Happy Mind this week we started the Apprieciation unit. They loved trying out the word apprieciate. I hope they have tried it out at home this weekend?

Our time outdoors this week has been lovely with the good weather. The children are wonderfully creative and love to get out many things to enhance the games they play. 

We are finally hoping to walk to the post box at the entrance to the Infant side to post the letters home tomorrow.
