Reception class update Friday 27th March
I was saying to Mrs Hughes yesterday that despite it only having been a 5 week half term it has felt longer and the children seem to be very tired. Yesterday was the day of bump, trips, falls and tears so I think this Easter break is well timed.
Next term we are learning all about the Underground. We will also be preparing for Grandparents' tea party.
Information about the tea party:
Formal written invitations will be sent home for you to give to the grandparents, we encourge grandparents to RSVP if possible by post or email (this info will be on the invite) as we read them out in class.
We do a formal seating arrangement, much like a wedding, so please let me know if there are any changes to guests numbers as we want everyone to have a seat and a gift. As long as I know by the afternoon before I can sort this.
We will be asking for donations of sweet eats and flowers for the party. If possible please don't send in whole cakes as we don't have to time to cut them up. Please let me know if you are able to donate.
The children will be making vases for the tables so we need jam jars please. You can start sending these in after the Easter holiday.
Other information:
In the first week back I will be away for three days with the Year 5 class at their residential at Burwardsley. I will be checking my emails daily and be in contact with Mrs Hughes who will be running the class with Mrs Beardsworth in my absence. I will be away from Wednesday to the Friday.
Parent's evening has been reorganised for the third week back. I have kept the same days and times but you will need to rebook the slot. This will open on Monday 20th April at 7pm.
Thank you for all the kind and supportive words while we underwent the OFSTED inspection. The inspectors were friendly and kind and although the process is intense the children were not affected by their presence. It was lovely to see them confidently chatting to them throughtout the morning they were in the class.
We have a new boy starting with us after the break and he spent the afternoon with us on Thursday.
Have a happy holiday.
