Reception class update Friday 30th January

This week we learnt about the sense of taste. On Thursday afternoon we had a strange banquet of something sour, sweet, salty and bitter. They all had a taste of everything and well some facial expressions said it all. Bitter was not popular! We also talked about the role of the tongue and how many taste buds we have.

Writing this week and next is based on the book Little Red and it is a play on Little Red Riding Hood but a really brave Little Red. The wolf was not so lucky! Their writing task was to write instructions on how to catch a wolf. They had lots of lovely ideas and I have been impressed with how keen they were to write this week.

In maths we continue to work on problem solving but this week our focus was mainly on measurement. We got the metre sticks, tape measures and trundle wheel out to measure around the class and the play ground.

On Tuesday we had another lovely Yoga session with Laura. Thank you!

In PE on Friday (and for the next two Fridays) it was dance which they all seem to enjoy. On Friday we also headed to the Sunshine Room for music and had a play with a few more instrument. I also got one or two of them to be conductors. Mrs Sant (Year 3 teacher) is the music co-ordinator at school and is coming to join us on Friday so we are hoping to impress her with our learnt skills.

In buddy time we went to see the book fair and hopefully you got their wishlist in their bags.

This coming week we are looking at the sense of smell.
