Reception class update Friday 6th March 2026
This week each child has written a letter home to tell you all about what they like at school. This is all part of our theme "All Around us". We would like to post these to you. Please could you send in £1 to cover the cost of a second class stamp and we will walk to the post box at the entrance of the Infant site to post the letters this coming week.
In Maths our focus was patterns and we had fun inside and out making all sorts of patterns with lots of different materials.
The children enjoyed the sunny weather on Tuesday and some of them out onto the field where they made fairy homes. The wooded area is still very muddy so we have not ventured back into the area but I know the children cannot wait to go as they do have so much adventurous fun in there.
The children are all making lovely progress in reading and I am so pleased with the way they are applying phonics learnt in their writing and reading. I still marvel when for example a child asks me which oo sound to use - long or short? Or they can confidently tell me which letters make certain sounds. I have updated their pots and hopefully they are impressing you too with all their knowledge at home. Some children are now reading in small groups of 3 or in pairs.
