Reception class update week ending 19th June
Happy Father's day to our dads. I hope you now received the card your child made in class.
I feel this school year is now speeding up and it is hard to believe we only have 4 weeks together. The children seem to have enjoyed their morning with Miss Wood on Thursday in Year 1 and we have another low key theme day on the 2nd of July to help with transition. More details to follow as I have not yet told the children. We will include the South African children in our activities.
I have been through all the children's pot of sounds and words and updated them. They are all doing so well. Please do join the library challenge over the holiday and keep up with the words and sounds. I will send home a simple pack of things to help you keep them on track.
This week we heard the story of The Storm Whale and our writing was about how to be a good friend. We have also finished our final module of My Happy Mind which was Endure. The story was about Ernie and how he overcame his fear of climbing a tree. The children really enjoy the Friday lessons of My Happy Mind.
Mrs Hughes did colour mixing with the class on Wednesday and Witchy the witch was in class to help. She is so clever with her magic!
In PE this week they started to learn the dance that the South African children will perform on Rose Day. All the children may join in so we are learning just the chorus part of the dance.
I would like to arrange a mum's picnic as a little get together before the holiday. It is a simple affair with you bringing a little after lunch picnic and setting up with rugs and chairs while the children eat then play and we natter. I am hoping Friday 3rd July at around 2pm will suit most of you.
