Reception class update week ending 28th November
Hello all
This week we heard the tale of The Mayflower ship who left the UK with the pilgrims to find a better life in America. It is the story of Thanksgiving. We had a small taste of the meal they enjoyed all those years ago as we made pumpkin pie in class. Everyone tried a small piece with some children enjoying second and third helpings. The children each wrote a sentence or three using picture clues and phonic prompts set out for them.
In maths we focused on counting and saying the teen numbers correctly. We also problem solved and practiced the correct formation of numbers.
We have been practicing for the nativity this week and the singing is coming on nicely. Reception children will be on the stage and the year 2 actors will be on a temporary stage below. The children will remain on the stage throughout the nativity.
Nativity info:
1. Each family will get two tickets per performance. Spare tickets are most desirable so if you are not using you allocated tickets please send them back into school for reallocation or swap among yourselves.
2. Children need a Christmas themed t-shirt (not a jumper if possible) and either shorts or leggings to wear on stage. It gets hot up on stage! Please send these items of clothing to school in a named bag on or before Monday 8th.
4. The performances should be no longer than 40 minutes and we will start promptly.
3. We kindly request that no preschool aged children attend the performances to limit noise which will over shadow the actors. Goostrey pre schoolers will be attending the dress rehearsal on Monday 15th.
Buddy Winter gifts
The children will have the opportunity to exchange gifts, if they wish to do so, with their buddies on the 19th December. Please do not spend a fortune and we suggest no more than £10.
