Reception class update week ending 9th October

Hello all and I hope you are enjoying the weekend.

This week at school the children had a chance to work with local artist Debbie Goldsmith. Together they made Rosie for the exhibition and they helped to paint her and make her feathers. They went in groups of 3 to the Sunshine Room to work alongside Debbie and they all came back smiling. Rosie is impressively huge - so you won't miss her in the exhibition.

In maths we worked on matching number to object. I have also started telling them the number stories and we have heard about Greedy 0, Penguin 1, Ticklish 2 and Butterfly 3.

We are also working on many sounds and blending sounds to make words in phonics. I have topped up the pots so we are more or less up to date. Please use the sound cards to make words like: in, on, at, is, as. The children like to guess what words I am sounding out in robot talk. Please make sure the pots are in the school bags each day as I try and top them up as often as possible.

As part of the exhibition learning we have this week looked at the life cycle of a bee. We will explore this more next week.

Exhibition news:

The exhibition is open from 2pm to 5:30pm on the 21st and 22nd of October.
