Reception class weekly update Friday 3 October 2025
Goodness what a wet day we have had today! The chidlren have been inside most of the day except for a short break in the rain this afternoon which possibly was not the best idea on my part as they headed straight for the nearest puddle! We also, sadly, did not get to have buddy time because of the rain.
We had a super time in the woods on Thursday afternoon. The children cooperated so well together building their "homes" and dens. So spontanious and lovely to watch. A few were digging for treasure and some elected to play football.
We made biscuits on Wednesday and decorated and ate them on Thursday before heading to the woods. The children said they were the best buscuits they had ever eaten so if you want the recipe do ask myself or Jane Grindle, who kindly came to bake with the children.
This week in phonics we learnt the following sounds: m, d, o, c, k and used them to make words. The children are keen and interested in the lessons. I have managed to top up all pots in school - a few were not in their bags so I will catch up with those on Monday.
Your child will have brought a reading bag home today with two books in it and a reading record. I will be sending a more details in an email to you this weekend. Reading folders need to be in school every Thursday so that we can change the books.
We are working hard on things for the exhibition and the children made a clay gingerbread cottage this week. These will be on display at the exhibition.
I hope you all have a good weekend.
