Reception weekly update 12 July 2026
Our last week together in Reception is upon us and I cannot believe a whole year has passed so quickly. This past week we have done a short writing exericse about holidays and where they might like to go and how they would get there. In maths we worked on problem solving using addition, subtraction, sharing and multiplying. They also drew pictures for a card for the Elizabethfontein children to take back with them. We spent as much time possible outdoors again due to the heat. Our area under the trees is lovely and cool most of the day.
This week we are going to see the Year 6 play on Monday afternoon. On Wednesday the children will spend some time with Miss Wood in the Year 1 class. I am out of school on Wednesday as I am attending a Safe Guarding course in Holmes Chapel. On Thursday afternoon the children will exchange buddy gifts.
Please could you do some phonics with your child over the holiday. I will send home a white board and pen, which you child may keep, and the lists of words for them read and write. I have also left the sound learnt this year in their pots. The library is running a holiday challenge and the librarians will help you find the colour book band you child is on.
