Reception weekly update 19 September 2025

Hello all

Another busy and fun week under our belts. 

We started our phonics lessons and have learnt s,a,t,p sound this week making sure we can say them correctly and we are also air writing the sounds. The description of their invisable pens are very elaborate. I have kept all the word and sound pots in class and will send them home with sounds soon.  

I have started to read them a few number stories and these are animal based. These stories help them to remember the formation pattern of the numbers correctly too. 

We heard the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and we used puppets to act it out. We talked about Jack taking the things without asking and what would have been a better thing to do to get help. They have all completed a sequencing activity about the story.

This week they decorated their buddy train carriage and I hope to finalise the buddies next Friday. This afternoon they met the Year 6 class and have a play together.
