Reception weekly update Friday 25th September
Hello all
A full week of activites and the children seem very settled and happy.
On Monday we made cupcakes using some of the many apples we have from the trees at school and also a family in Goostrey whose trees are also overloaded. The children are learning and improving their chopping skills which is a D&T requirement in the Reception curriculum.
We heard the story of Goldilocks and the three bears which they knew well and helped tell using the class puppets.
On Thursday afternoon we had the famous Porridge party (who knew it would be so well recieved) and we all sat down at a long table to enjoy the porridge with a selection of toppings. Chopped apples being one option.
This week I have taught the sounds: i, n, m - so they now know (s, a, t, p, i, n, m). Their pots are filled so hopefully they can do these with you using the actions and correct pronunciation. Use the letters to blend two sounds to make words (in it is an at as). Blending can be very tricky!
In Maths we are counting and we have so far heard the number stories of 0,1,2,3,4 - all based around animals in the woods.
PE went well this morning and the coach was pleased with their behaviour.
Today they got their buddies and they should all have a buddy book, all about their Year 6 friend, in their bag.
