Reception weekly update Friday 7th November 2025

Hi all

A lovely week back and as always very busy.

This week our focus was on Bonfire and the story of Guy Faukes. The children acted out the story and we also built a bonfire with all the leaves on the playground. We made up bonfire songs which they found amusing each of them making a suggestion and changing words. They also all wrote one sentence about the story - most writing something along the lines of "Guy Faukes tried to kill King James".

Today we started My Happy Mind and the first story and lesson was about our brains and how our brains grow the more we learn. They met the two charactures -Bertie and Betty and heard how Betty encouraged Bertie to keep trying to improve his drawing which he described as rubbish.

In maths we problem solved based on stories from bonfire night. The children are becoming more confident writing numbers and trying to count carefully to get the right answers.

We have started to use whiteboards and pens to learn the correct letter formation of the sounds learnt. I am so pleased with the progress they are making.

Next week we are learning about Divali.

On Thursday 13th Yellow house (Garner) will have a dress down day.

Please also see the newsletter about movie night to be held at the Scout Hut.

Have a lovely weekend.
